About Me

Rabbi Sarah Rubin was born and raised in Seattle, Washington.  Before beginning her rabbinical education, Rabbi Rubin received her B.A. and M.A. in anthropology, with a graduate minor in medical sciences.  As part of her research, she excavated archeological sites in Jerusalem, and on the Euphrates River in Turkey.  This work influences Rabbi Rubin’s thinking about Jewish tradition and community as stratigraphic layers that show an evolving and varied relationship between Jews and the spiritual and physical worlds.

From 2007-2012, Rabbi Rubin served Congregation Ahavas Achim in Keene, New Hampshire. She is currently in transition, returning to Seattle to be closer to family, and to bring her teaching, writing, and leadership skills back to her roots.

Rabbi Rubin is passionate about building Jewish community through shared experiences and traditions, and through mutual support in times of joy and sorrow. In support of this passion she brings her experience as a teacher for all ages, her strength as a writer, and her participation and leadership in diverse Jewish and non-Jewish communities. She encourages knowledge of Jewish values and ideas across traditions and generations.
